Mustard Seed Faith

Faith is really like a seed. Alma sure thought so: “Now, we will compare the word unto a seed." Even Jesus used this illustration: “Verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you shall say unto this mountain, remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible to you.” (Matt. 17:20.)

I am loving that thought today because I know if we exercise even a small tiny mustard seed particle of faith there is nothing that we can not know, achieve or do!

Yesterday it was time to do the laundry again but i could not find the laundry card anywhere! A new card would be $10 plus we had just put more money on our card...so it was a bummer that we couldn't find it, not to mention we couldn't do laundry until we found it or got a new one! Scott came home and ferociously started searching for it. I felt bad because he seemed stressed and perplexed about it but I knew it was going to be okay, that we would find it {unless it was really lost or stolen or something!} So in the morning the first thing I did was get on my knees to offer a simple prayer. I knew Heavenly Father would listen and in his own time help me to know where this card was. Maybe it is a simple and dumb thing to pray about but Heavenly Father cares about the things that are important to us, our families, our homes, our well beings and such, so off to pray I went!

Seriously, no less than 2 seconds later I found it in the pocket of the jacket that I had previously worn to do the laundry in! Crazy because I had been trying to remember what I was wearing and it seemed impossible to remember but after my prayer everything became more clear! Tender mercies of the Lord I tell ya!

I am thankful the Lord watches over me and my family and in the simplest of ways, shows he cares and loves me personally. Sometimes we might feel like we are facing our days alone but we truly never are, nor have to. Heavenly Father is always just a heartfelt prayer away! Knock and it shall be opened unto you! With the Lord, truly nothing is impossible! All we have to do is have that tiny mustard seed of faith and then go and do!

Did you know that when you plant a mustard seed it emerges quickly, but after emergence, it grows very slow? I love how the scripture even talks about the mustard seed because it IS like faith. We are quick to have faith (like the emerging of the seed), but when we do have faith, it takes a long time to practice and master for us to become perfect (like the budding of the mustard seed). I love it. :)

Thanks so much for sharing this post. I am about to head off to bed and it's nice, after a prayer, to read an uplifting spiritual post.
